A&S Competitions Details:

All artisans, hear my words.
I am Caleb Reynolds and I am running two A&S competitions at Summer's End, this August 31st. Both competitions will be a bean count, judged by the populace. Minimal documentation is required which should include the following:
Name of the submitter.
A one line description of the item.
A brief description of your inspiration and your sources. If you wish to include more detailed and lengthy documentation, please do so.
If you are planning on entering food or beverage, please list the ingredients in your documentation as well as on a separate paper, or index card, that can be kept next to the food or beverage.

If you are unable to attend the event, but can send your entry and documentation via a proxy, we welcome your items. Your proxy will need to set it up on the tables and pick it up at the end of the day. And, if you win, deliver the scroll to you after the event.

First competition: Tools of Our Labors.
In keeping with the theme of the event, the theme for the first competition will be in celebration of the common laborers of the Middle Ages. Anything that can be tied to the working class people will be accepted: hand tools, rough garb, simple food. The things that you would not ordinary see in an A&S competition. Items that have been entered in previous A&S competitions are welcome as long as they did not win.

Second competition: Fake It Until You Make It.
This is an A&S competition not about recreating things from period, but for the ways we cover up modern things so that they don't stand out at our events. Camp chair covers, covers for plastic water bottles, leather "books" to hide cell phones, spats to hide modern shoes. Anything that you created to allow you to use modern items while still keeping the look medieval. Since, to my knowledge, there has been no similar A&S competition in AEthelmearc, anything that you have made in your SCA career is eligible to be entered.

Schedule

TBA

Since this is still a newish site for us, here is what it looks like from the air:

There are no vigils planned, at this time, but we do have space available if needed.

There is plenty of space in the fighting and fencing area for pop-ups and pavillions. Please bring yours if you wish. The "Barn" has picnic tables so there will be space to sit, outside and out of the sun. The little building to the lower left of the "barn" is reserved for the MoLs. There is plenty of space for archery and thrown weapons and for pop-ups. The area marked as no parking for us is restricted to the fire fighters and for the fire trucks. .Accessibility parking is on the right-hand side of the building, near the troll.

Plenty of space for archery:

Plenty of seating in the "barn".

Plenty of space for combat.

More than enough space for vigils (if needed)
